Place the "Eat This First" sign inside your fridge and/or pantry to designate an area for foods that need to be eaten soon.
For example, place the sign on a small tray in the fridge that can hold the conatiner of yesterday's leftovers, half a jar of tomato sauce, and yogurt that is nearing its end. Make this the designated tray where anyone can move food items that need to be eaten ASAP to avoid these items getting pushed to the back of the fridge and forgotten.
You can also use this tool to help stick to the FIFO rule: First In, First Out. Food items that went in first, meaning those that are older, should be the first out, or used first (especially when looking at similar or same-type foods). Of course, the shelf life on some food items is very different from others, but the general idea is to keep food items you've had for a long time in the pantry and fridge in a visible place so you remember to use them.
